Project Runway, No Excitement

December 6, 2007 · 1 Comment

I was thinking of live blogging last night’s episode but I’m glad I didn’t; boring!

My expectations of seeing another star on the show were dashed when I saw regular ole Nina standing in the room when the designers marched in to meet their challenge. I thought, “What the hell? Nina? What? Is the show running out of money already, they can’t get anyone else?”

Then there was the challenge, which I didn’t understand at all. Old fashion fads? Again, boring. I guess the only thing that made the show the least bit interesting was when they had to divide up in teams. It was entertaining to watch who picked who to be on their team.

Team Jillian won the challenge, and rightfully so. I thought for sure that Ricky was leaving but I was wrong! One of my main favorites is gone. Last week my other favorite was shown the door; Carmen. So it’s a good thing I’m not making a living as a psychic! I don’t know who I like anymore, except to say I know it’s not Christian.

Anyway, that’s my take on the episode. Let’s hope some others pop up some time today to tell us what they thought.

How It Really Turned Out…

I was doing a little fashion surfing earlier this afternoon when I came across the winning design of the second episode of Project Runway.

It really isn’t bad now that some real people got a hold of it and made it presentable to the rest of us.

Found it at BlueFly.com – even though they have dorky commercials.

Don’t forget to tune in, tomorrow night 9:00 PM central time, for another episode of Project Runway! Can anyone guess what their next challenge will be?

Project Runway – Season 4, Episode 2

November 22, 2007 · 1 Comment

sarahjessicaparker.jpgLast night Sarah Jessica Parker showed up as the pop culture fashion icon and sit in celebrity judge for the second episode of Project Runway. Now, I love Sarah Jessica Parker, I think she’s a swell actress and I absolutely am a Sex in the City freak but that’s where SJP needs to stay – in acting and out of the fashion industry.

I remember being all excited when her clothing line, Bitten, came out. I went straight to the mall, to Steve & Barry’s, to check it out and I was sadly disappointed. I found nothing that I would wear; maybe, perhaps for me preteen daughter but nothing that I liked. I will give her credit, though, with trying and attempting to make clothes affordable for the everyday woman.

So last night I was a little apprehensive but held out hope that the designers would create something nice with their $15.00 budget. WRONG! I didn’t like any of the designs – none, nada, zip, zilch! They were ALL atrocious. Sarah Jessica Parker seemed to be genuinely frightened when some of the judges spoke, deservedly, harshly to the designers and their nightmare creations.

When SJP started out with her first pick of Elisa I knew this wasn’t going to be pretty. And I thought for sure that damned young punk ass Christian was going to be voted out but I reckon they need to keep on the token gay eccentric designer for drama purposes or whatever.

Nonetheless I was pleased to see Sarah Jessica Parker on the show. Overall I enjoyed last night’s episode even though I liked none of the finished creations. Not one of the designers from last night’s episode really stood out with me although I’m still keeping my eye on Carmen, Chris, Kit, and now maybe Sweet Pea.

Well, that’s it for now. Did you watch the show? What is YOUR opinion?

Hey There!

November 15, 2007 · 4 Comments

I’m just doing the obligatory introduction. My name is c.a. Marks and am the blog author of Sex and the South. I’ve been invited to contribute to this We Love Project Runway blog, for which I am ever grateful and very excited to participate! I do hope that the others will come out and make their introductions as well.

Here is my little “celebrity” story from the FIRST Project Runway season: I really have no idea how I started watching this show from the beginning, I was probably channel surfing and something caught my attention; probably Tim Gunn. ;-)

I was hooked right off the bat and I was really rooting for Wendy Pepper, and when she lost I went straight to the computer and Googled her. I found her website and emailed her instantly, telling her I thought she should have won and yadda, yadda, yadda. Well, not 15 minutes later the phone rings – it’s Wendy Pepper!!! She called me to thank me for the words of encouragement and support! That was way too cool and I lived off of that experience for a few days. Now only if I can get Tim Gunn to call me!! I love that man! “Make it work!”

So…did you watch the premiere last night? I sure did, and I was not let down. I was surprised, however, that they just got right down to business with their first challenge. For some reason I thought they would air an episode where the judges go through the interviewing process. I’m glad they didn’t.

Thus far, my top three picks are Carmen, Rami, and Chris; and calculations are only from their first designs from last night. I have read their bios but I am not making my picks, yet, from their bios; I need to see more of them from the show. Although, I do like the fact that Chris March is self taught.

The dress Chris March designed was absolutely stunning and the material he selected looked good enough to lick; I mean it was mesmerizing and I almost fainted when I saw that model strut her stuff down the runway in that stunning thread of a garment.

Anyway, that’s my run down of last night’s episode and my little introduction of myself.
